Lime Stone of Qatar: Fire Station Artist in Recidency 7
During my nine-month residency at Fire Station, I focused on investigating the overlooked potential of local Qatari limestone. This abundant material, often discarded and undervalued in contemporary construction, became the centerpiece of my material research.
My work aimed to reframe our understanding of this native stone, examining its inherent qualities and possibilities. Through hands-on exploration of its materiality, I sought to reveal the beauty and utility of this discarded resource, challenging prevailing attitudes about local building materials.
The project represents a deeper investigation into Qatar's natural resources, highlighting how traditional materials can be reconsidered and repurposed in contemporary contexts.
