Our Story

Qatar’s unstable foodscape, brought forth by the blockade created a vulnerability in Qatar’s agriculture with the high demand for locally produced vegetables. When the blockade was introduced in June 2017, it threw the vulnerability of Qatar’s domestic food supply to an outside interruption into sharp relief.

Trade is critical to feeding the nation; over 90 per cent of its food supply is imported. Whilst the Blockade was still ongoing, the COVID pandemic has restricted people to stay at their own homes - food security has never been so heightened in Doha. As a response, many homes started growing their herbs, fruits, and vegetables in their kitchens.
